Alex Segal San Diego, CA Death: 17-year-old bicyclist died in Sorrento Valley Amtrak train involved accident

Alex Segal Train Accident: A teenage biker crossing railroad tracks with two other teenagers was hit and killed by a passing Amtrak train in Sorrento Valley early Friday afternoon. Witnesses told deputies that the trio was riding bikes and came to a stop at the Sorrento Valley Boulevard crossing arms around 12:30 p.m. to allow a northbound train to pass, according to sheriff’s Sgt. Jason King. Law enforcement agencies were called to the scene of a train accident.

As soon as the train passed, a 17-year-old began crossing the tracks, unaware that there was another train heading south, King said. The adolescent was hit by a southbound train and died at the scene. His two buddies were uninjured. The Medical Examiner’s Office rushed to the site. He was identified as 17-year-old Alex Segal, of San Diego, California.

Pacific Surfliner announced on X, formerly Twitter, that service in the San Diego area was delayed. The Coaster train also declared on X that it was canceling a northbound train. A 17-year-old boy was struck and killed by a train while crossing the tracks in Sorrento Valley. The incident occurred soon before 12:40 p.m. and caused a delay in train service. Friday due to the incident.
