Alisseaha Golar-Kotlar Vaughan ON Death: 21-year-old killed in Vaughan shooting, man facing murder charge

Alisseaha Golar-Kotlar Vaughan ON Death: Alisseaha Golar-Kotlar, 21, from Hamilton has died during the Vaughan shooting. The York police have identified Alisseaha as the victim of the shooting on Tuesday at Vaughan Mills shopping centre. Two men have been charged in her death after police responded Tuesday afternoon to reports a woman was injured after being shot in the parking lot of Vaughan Mills mall. She was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, police say, where she was later pronounced dead.

Vaughan Shooting Murder Charges

Courtney-Ashton Brooks, 23, from Brampton is charged with first-degree murder, and Donte Morris Taylor, a 22-year-old also from Brampton, has been charged with accessory after the fact to murder. Police said the relationship between the two accused and the victim isn’t known at this time, but they believe the three people knew each other.

On Wednesday morning York police scoured the south side of the parking lot with metal detectors and cameras, searching underneath vehicles, near Rutherford Road and Fishermens Way. Four vehicles could be seen surrounded by police tape.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, a store owner at a fashion retail shop nearby said he was unaware of the shooting until police arrived, and was upset at what he said was a lack of communication from the mall and police. Anyone with information is asked to call York Regional Police’s Four District.

What Happened In Vaughan Shooting

The Vaughan shooting started in the early evening as many patrons were shopping at the busy Toronto-area outlet mall. One woman told the media on Tuesday that she saw a woman lying on the ground unconscious and then heard sirens from emergency vehicles rushing to the scene. “It’s scary to know that that happened in broad daylight and it’s in the shopping mall parking lot,” she said. Yellow police tape continued to cordon off a section of the mall’s parking lot early Wednesday as police continued to investigate.

“We do encourage those who may have dashcam footage from the parking lot of Vaughan Mills and anyone who may have seen anything to please reach out to homicide,” Nebrija said.
