Gary Wayt, the boyfriend of reality TV star Amber Portwood, has mysteriously gone missing. Here are all the details regarding Gary Wyat’s sudden disappearance and the police investigation. Gary Wayt went missing days after he got engaged to Amber Portwood.

As per US Weekly, on June 11, the Bryson City Police Department revealed in a Facebook post that Wayt was last seen on June 9 at Arlington Ave. The police officials provided a detailed description of Gary Wayt to seek help from the locals.

Who Was Amber Portwood?

Amber Portwood of Anderson, Indiana and was born on May 14, 1990. Amber Portwood appeared on MTV’s 16 and Pregnant in 2009 before starring on the spinoff series Teen Mom and Teen Mom OG from 2009 to 2021. Portwood welcomed daughter Leah with ex Gary Shirley in November 2008. Shirley gained full custody of Leah in 2011, one year after a fight between the former couple resulted in Portwood’s arrest. She was charged with three felonies and one misdemeanor in the domestic violence case.

Portwood welcomed son James with Andrew Glennon in May 2018, but the couple split in 2019 after Portwood was charged with domestic battery against Glennon. Portwood returned to MTV for 2022’s Teen Mom: Family Reunion and 2023’s Teen Mom: The Next Chapter.

Police Statement

Bryson City Police Chief Charlie Robinson told the media that the couple had recently got engaged, and traveled from Indiana for the wedding and to celebrate their engagement. Police said Portwood and Wayt were staying at a rental cabin at Twin Oaks Lodge when he went missing. Robinson said Wayt was last seen in a 2009 Nissan Rogue with Indiana plates. He was described as 6’1 tall and 205 pounds, bald with brown eyes.

“Sunday, they had some kind of disagreement. He left. And when he left, he grabbed his wallet and his keys and that was the last time he was seen,” said Robinson. “Just one thing l think is unusual is, he just grabbed his wallet and keys. He left his other personal items there. He left his cell phone there.”
