Boston High School Shooting: Woman celebrating HS graduation shot in city’s Seaport District, Boston police say

According to police, a young woman celebrating her high school graduation was shot in Boston’s Seaport District late Thursday morning, The shooting happened at about 11:45 a.m. near the intersection of Pier 4 Boulevard and Northern Avenue, which runs along the district’s waterfront.

What happened in Seaport Shooting?

Investigators said the 18-year-old woman was shot after graduating from the Boston Collaborative High School in Dorchester earlier in the day. The ceremony was held at the Institute of Contemporary Art. “This is a travesty. This should not happen. High school students attending a graduation on a beautiful day like today shouldn’t have had that day marked with a shooting taking place and a young woman having to go to the hospital,” Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden said.

Eye Witnesses Statement

Witnesses said they knew something was wrong when they saw graduates in their caps and gowns running. “We believe that this was not a random event,” Boston police Commissioner Michael Cox said. Boston police said the woman’s injuries were non-life-threatening, and she was taken to a hospital. Investigators believe the woman was shot in a parking garage at 200 Pier 4 Blvd., not on the street, following some type of altercation.

“There seems to be two crime scenes that we’re basically holding right now as the event did not occur — likely did not occur — in this area right down here,” Cox said. No arrests have been made, police said. Hayden said the investigation was active and ongoing.

From Sky5, several police cruisers could be seen at the intersection, which remained closed to traffic. A detective could also be seen talking with someone in a black Chevy Cruze with “Congrats Grad!” mylar balloons inside on Pier 4 Boulevard. “We need the community’s help. We need people who know something to say something,” Hayden said.
