Who was Claudio Graziano?

General Claudio Graziano was an Italian Army officer who served as Chairman of the European Union Military Committee. He was a Force Commander of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), serving in the position between 2007 and 2010. On 6 December 2011 he became the Chief of Staff of the Italian Army. From 28 February 2015 to 6 November 2018, Graziano served as the Chief of Defence Staff of the Italian Armed Forces

Fincantieri expresses “immense sorrow at the sudden death of the General Claudio Graziano, Chairman of the Group, who leaves a great and unbridgeable void”, Fincantieri said in a note pointed out that “the Chief Executive Officer and Director General Pierroberto Folgiero, the Board of Directors, the Board of Statutory Auditors, Managers and all Fincantieri Employees recall with emotion his extraordinary human and that have always distinguished him in his long career’

An army officer, Graziano was 70 years old. He was named Fincantieri chairman in 2022. “He was a friend and an extraordinary officer who honoured Italy also in his European roles”, Italy’s Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani wrote on X.
