Joe Elmore Death: Longtime host of Tennessee’s longest-running and highest-rated program on public television ‘Tennessee Crossroads’ has died. Joe Elmore passed away early Monday after a long-time battle with ill-health, the show announced Monday. Joe Elmore was 80 years old. John Hosted the show which started in 1987.

Who Was Joe Elmore?

Joe Elmore born in 1944, was originally from Paragould, Arkansas. He was raised in Elmore in eastern Arkansas, near the Mississippi Delta He was a longtime resident of Nashville, Tennessee. John was the Host, of Tennessee Crossroads at WNPT for 37 years. Joe studied Journalism at Arkansas State University. Joe Elmore was a TV personality, producer, and writer, who enjoyed connecting with big audiences in his home state of Tennessee. Joe was the host of the now popular NPT’s Tennessee Crossroads – a show that now airs on stations throughout Tennessee and the Southeast – reigns and is also regarded as one of the highest-rated PBS-based shows in the nation.

Joe Elmore Biography and Early Life In Journalism

Joe earned a Bachelor of Science degree in journalism from Arkansas State University and a Master of Arts degree in radio and cinema from the University of Memphis. Following graduation, he served as the school’s media relations director while concurrently teaching as an assistant professor in the Department of Journalism. Joe spent five years at WHBQ-TV news in Memphis, lured by the promise of a career in broadcast journalism.

He has served as a general assignment reporter, weekend anchor, and feature reporter. Joe co-hosted the station’s PM Magazine show for three years until leaving for Nashville in 1985. Joe worked in Music City on shows for the defunct Nashville Network as well as numerous independent television, radio, and film When not working, the TV veteran enjoys writing, playing, and recording music in his home studio.
