Mark Hodges missing La Verkin, UT father found dead at Hurricane Mesa ‘Flying Monkey’ in Virgin

Mark Hodges Death: A missing La Verkin, Utah resident, and father of one has tragically passed away. According to law enforcement agencies, officials including Utah County Sheriff’s Office Search & Rescue and DPS Star 8 were dispatched to the (Zion Canyon’s steep red cliffs) Zion National Park area in the Southern Utah area for a missing person report.

Who Was and What Happened To Mark Hodges?

Mark Hodges was a graduate of Shafter High School and Arcata’s California State Polytechnic University, Humboldt. He was a father of one (boy) and originally from Bakersfield, California. According to law enforcement, Mark Hodges was found dead at the Zion National Park Hurricane Mesa, popularly known by locals as “Flying Monkey Mesa.”

According to investigators, Mark Hodges was reported missing on Thursday, June 13th, 2024. Authorities said the father of one went for a hike in the mountains. His vehicle was found days later near the trailheads. A post on Facebook reads ” Mark occasionally does river trips solo (he did a solo trip on the Colorado through the Grand Canyon.)” Mark Hodges died after a fall at the mountain, according to a family member.

Mark Hodges obituary and funeral arrangements will be released by the family. The anonymous family member stated that Mark passed away from a head injury following a fall at Hurricane Mesa. He was located with a bloodstained and injured head.
