Mexico Train Accident: Woman struck, killed by CPKC steam tour train in Mexico

A woman died after coming too close to a train while clicking a selfie. The incident took place in Mexico on Monday and the video of the incident is gaining traction on social media. According to local outlets, some people had gathered to click a photo of a vintage train with steam engine near Hidalgo as it was passing by. The woman came too close to the tracks while positioning herself for a selfie with the approaching train, known as the ‘Empress’.

CPKC Mexico Statement

CPKC Mexico said in a statement: “A woman has been fatally injured while she was very close to the track taking a picture. This tragic incident is under investigation. We are deeply saddened by this loss of life and wish to express our condolences to the family and loved ones of this lady. “CPKC Mexico is cooperating with the relevant authorities and will make all the necessary information available to investigators. CPKC Mexico calls on people who come to witness the passing of this locomotive to take precautions and not approach or cross the railway tracks for their own safety and that of the crew on board.

Incident is under investigation.

“We are deeply saddened by this loss of life and wish to express our condolences to the woman’s family and loved ones. “For their own safety and that of the crews, all spectators looking at any train must always remain at least 10 meters back from the train and the tracks. Spectators must never stand on railway tracks, try to board rail equipment or climb on rail infrastructure. Always use caution around tracks and trains.” CPKC said in a statement
