The two-vehicle crash happened around 11 a.m. The coroner’s office said a 30-year-old woman from York who was driving one of the vehicles was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name hasn’t been released yet. A viewer also shared a photo with the media that showed a vehicle on fire. It’s not yet clear how the crash happened.

An official statement has been released by the West Hempfield Township Police Department: ”We appreciate those of you who were patient in dealing with this hardship and backlog of traffic as we investigated this tragedy. While this was an “inconvenience” to your travels and may have set you back an hour or two, a precious life ended today, and a family is mourning that loss. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family of this young victim. Unfortunately, it takes time to reconstruct and document a fatal crash accurately, and we do our best to complete that in the most timely manner possible. More information will be released when it is appropriate concerning the events of the crash and the identity of the victim.

Route 30 Westbound, closed at Prospect Road, and Route 30 Eastbound, closed at Route 441, have all been reopened after the deadly crash.
