Victoria Zhao Death: Bellevue WA resident and Cleveland, OH Case Western Reserve University student has tragically died. According to reports, 23-year-old Victoria Zhao passed away after a medical emergency this week. Victoria Zhao was a rising second-year medical student and athlete. The second-year medical student and 2023 alumna was found dead early Monday morning, according to the university.
Zhao has demonstrated a great commitment to academics and athletics since coming to campus in 2019 as part of the extremely competitive Pre-Professional Scholars Program, which offers undergraduate admission and conditional admission to Case Western Reserve’s School of Medicine. In her first year of college, Zhao joined the women’s track and field team. She quickly became a star, often recognized as All-Academic and All-UAA. She also won the Patricia B. Kilpatrick Award in athletics, which is given to the four-year varsity player with the highest GPA.
Zhao was “a loving daughter/granddaughter and supportive sister,” according to her parents, who also note that “she was unwaveringly kind and would often see the best in others.” She was always there to have a good laugh or offer support after a trying day. She made time for the people she loved and always had others in mind. Our favorite times spent together laughing at home are the ones we remember most.

Victoria Zhao was a 2019 graduate of Newport High School. She was a San Antonio, Texas resident and was originally from Bellevue, Washington.
